Composite Bonding

Composite bonding can be used to reshape the teeth in the case of small cracks and can also be used to build teeth up to harmonise the appearance of teeth and make them appear level and smooth.

FAQs

What is composite bonding?

Bonding is when a composite resin is added to the edges of the teeth to shape them and make them fit in with the other surrounding teeth for a natural yet aesthetically pleasing result. It can also be used to build-up the tooth after chips or to add length to worn down teeth.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure on average takes between 30 minutes to one hour and the preparation and the fixing of the teeth can happen in the same appointment. If more than one tooth needs treating it will take longer or you can schedule another appointment to do another tooth.

What happens during the composite bonding procedure?

To begin, we will shade match your tooth so that it is as close as possible to your natural tooth colour. Then we will roughen the surface of the tooth which will allow the bonding agent to stick to the tooth. The composite material is then placed over this and is moulded and shaped before being hardened with an ultraviolet light.
